KENWOOD TH-D74E DUAL-BAND VHF/UHF HANDHELD
The TH-D74E operates across the 144MHz and 430MHz amateur radio bands, providing reliable dual-band VHF/UHF communication in a compact handheld format. With up to 5W RF output, the radio is suitable for portable operation, local communication, repeater use, field activities, and general amateur radio applications.
The radio supports FM and D-STAR digital voice operation, giving operators flexibility when communicating through conventional analogue systems or compatible D-STAR networks. Its compact design makes it convenient to carry while hiking, travelling, participating in events, or operating away from a fixed station.
D-STAR DIGITAL AMATEUR RADIO
One of the major features of the Kenwood TH-D74E is its built-in support for D-STAR (Digital Smart Technology for Amateur Radio). D-STAR provides digital voice communication for compatible amateur radio systems and repeaters.
For operators interested in D-STAR handheld radios, the TH-D74E combines digital voice capability with traditional FM operation, making it a versatile choice for different amateur radio environments.
BUILT-IN GPS AND APRS
The integrated GPS receiver adds valuable positioning functionality to the TH-D74E. When used with APRS, operators can transmit and receive position information and other data through compatible amateur radio systems.
This makes the Kenwood TH-D74E APRS handheld particularly useful for portable operations, outdoor activities, amateur radio events, tracking applications, and operators who want GPS functionality built directly into their handheld transceiver.
HAND HELD HAM RADIO WIDEBAND RECEIVER
The TH-D74E also provides wideband receive coverage from 0.1MHz to 524MHz, allowing the radio to monitor a broad range of frequencies beyond its primary VHF/UHF transmit bands.
The combination of wideband reception, digital capabilities, GPS, APRS, and dual-band amateur radio operation makes the TH-D74E a flexible portable receiver and transceiver for radio enthusiasts.
BLUETOOTH AND MICROSD CONNECTIVITY
The built-in Bluetooth connectivity provides convenient wireless functionality for compatible accessories and applications. The radio also includes a microSD card slot, allowing users to store and manage radio data, memories, and logging information.
A USB interface provides connectivity for computer-based programming and other compatible functions, making the TH-D74E suitable for operators who want to integrate their handheld radio with a computer-based amateur radio setup.
HAND HELD HAM RADIO COLOUR LCD AND EASY OPERATION
The Kenwood TH-D74E features a full-colour LCD display designed to provide clear information while operating the radio. Its intuitive menu system provides access to the radio’s extensive functions without sacrificing portability.
The combination of physical controls, colour display, and straightforward menu navigation makes the TH-D74E suitable for both everyday operation and more advanced digital amateur radio activities.
